Retail Associate

Position Summary:

The Retail Associate is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of the Bently Ranch Meats Butcher Shop. The position is responsible for working closely with the meats department in order to create the Bently Ranch Meats environment and ensure the success of the store and meat department through excellent customer service and a demonstrated passion for the product.  

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  •  Provide premier customer service, including greeting them and responding to any questions
  •  Dynamically selling product by providing customers with information needed to make product-related decisions
  •  Promptly, accurately, professionally and courteously receive telephone calls and visitors; assess received calls/inquiries and direct and/or record and relay messages.
  • Conduct cash and credit card transactions with customers; provide a receipt
  • Enter transactions into accounts receivable system, cash register, or cash receipt log.
  • Authorize various transactions, such as refunds, voids, and cash drawer reconciliations
  • Create and send invoices to individuals and businesses
  • Maintenance of daily cash drawer and deposits.
  • Deliver deposit to the bank or designated deposit drop location
  • Communicate with customers, vendors and suppliers to exchange information and/or order information regarding products, materials, and services.
  • Maintain inventory, supply, and stock fridge of merchandise.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment for the office, community restroom and refrigerator.
  • Perform basic clerical tasks to include: typing, filing, and data entry.
  • Maintain company files as requested for purchases, parts and inventories.
  • Process company mail: open, date stamp, copy and distribute; ensure timely delivery of outgoing mail to main building.Perform routine office cleaning in order to maintain health and sanitation standards     
  • Sign for deliveries and notify recipients.
  • Assist in preparing purchase orders and other basic bookkeeping functions.
  • Inform appropriate personnel when appliances/equipment need repair.
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of and adhere to organizational policies, regulations and procedures.
  • Keep supervisor well informed of activities, results of efforts, and problems/potential problems identified.
  • Respect confidentiality in discussing visitors, customers, vendors, staff and organizational matters.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Special Licenses and/or Certificates:

  • Valid Basic Class C drivers license with the ability to be insured under the Company’s insurance plan.
  • Education and/or Experience:
  • Associates Degree or equivalent skills; three (3) to five (5) years successful administrative job performance at level wherein job skills are proven and proper business courtesies and protocols can be confirmed.
  • One (1) year of cash handling experience. Experience may be substituted for education.

Computer and Software Skills:

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of personal computers and peripherals, word processing and spreadsheet software, database software, e-mail and the Internet.
  • Knowledge of Macintosh systems desired.
  • Data entry skills at 50 wpm.

  • Willingness to receive guidance and supervision; follow work rules, safety practices, work procedures; meet deadlines, punctuality and attendance standards; work mandatory overtime, etc.
