Tasting Room Manager

Position Summary:

The Tasting Room Manager will work with our Distillery General Manager, Director of Marketing, COO and other members of the company on all aspects of the business, but with a focus on tasting room operations and office management.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

Operations:

  • Demonstrates and understands safety as our core value and follows the key essentials to safety as set forth by our safety resolution; coaches others to do the same. 
  • Manage day to day operations for the tasting room, including, but not limited to, inventory, staff scheduling, supplies management, and training/communication with the department
  • Responsible for creating the tasting room sales environment
  • Ensure guest experiences are exceptional customer services at all times
  • Develop training programs and additional learning opportunities for current staff and new hires
  • Financial management including tracking budget to actual performance against key tasting room metrics (i.e. visitor traffic, spirit sales, etc.) and understanding of the inter-relationship of those metrics.
  • Manage and maintain inventory and participate in merchandise selection to forecast inventory needs and re-order items as necessary.
  • Successfully execute Sales and Marketing initiatives
  • Performs work of subordinates, as needed.

Customer Service and Sales:

  • Manage retail sales of Bently Heritage product and merchandise.
  • Credit card/cash handling and deposits; reconciling cash with sales receipts, keeping operating records, and/or preparing daily record of transactions for Accounting.
  • Enhance customer experience by maintaining a welcoming, educational, exciting and inviting experience
  • Developing innovative ways to drive sales and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage Tasting Room guest satisfaction and overall distillery visitor experience
  • Answers customer’s complaints and/or inquiries, as needed.

Management:

  • Manage Tasting Room staff schedule and staffing needs
  • Manage distillery human resource objectives by
  • Maintain safe, healthy and sustainable tasting room environment
  • Ensures compliance of employees with established security, sales and recordkeeping procedures and practices
  • Communicate job expectations to department

Events: 

  • Manage and assist with planning of special events and team building opportunities.
  • Work with customers and potential customers to plan social events, business events, private distillery tours for groups.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications:

Special Licenses and/or Certificates:

  • TIPS certification or similar class preferred, but not required
  • WEST certification or similar preferred, but not required

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or applicable work experience
  • Prior spirit knowledge is strongly encouraged, but not required, though an interest in learning about spirits is a must
  • 3-5 years management experience in the hospitality industry with a proven ability to be an effective, innovate, and enthusiastic leader
