Security Specialist

Position Summary:

The Security Specialist supports the process of meeting corporate objectives through the protection of people, property, and information.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Help to ensure the safety of individuals on company premises and ensure the safety of company property.
  • Provide access and exit control for employees, vendors and visitors going in and out of company buildings and on and off company property.
  • Perform periodic inspection of rental buildings, houses, office buildings, fence lines, gates, dams, wells, and mines as required with established procedures or tasks.
  • Respond to emergencies or customer needs 24 hours per day and when necessary notify proper authorities and personnel.
  • Direct employees and visitors for their safety needs and interface with responding agencies in the event of an emergency or disaster.
  • Operate telephones, keyboards filing, radio, paging, key control and camera systems during all shifts.   
  • Operate Security Console and all related equipment (cameras, digital recorder, storage and retrieval), or direct response to fire, intrusion, hazardous materials, first aid, and emergency alarms or notifications.
  • Generate computerized written reports and/or log entries on all incidents encountered while on duty.
  • As requested, conduct investigations including the gathering of photographic and other forms of evidence.
  • Inspect and record regular preventative maintenance of all fire systems for Bently Enterprises properties. Be fully knowledgeable of the National Fire Prevention Act manuals and directives and institute changes as directed.
  • Inspect and record regular preventative maintenance of all burglary and badge systems 
  • Maintain and perform periodic safety audits for company owned facilities.
  • Promptly, accurately, professionally and courteously assess received calls/inquiries and direct and/or record and relay messages.
  • Maintain uniforms and personal grooming standards as directed by management or specified in company procedures.
  • Use company-provided systems to enter, track, and document work; run reports as required.
  • Communicate by telephone or in person with contractors, vendors and other service providers as may be requested by members of the senior or executive management team.
  • Support the production of monthly, quarterly, annual and other reports, as needed.
  • Perform routine office tasks as necessary for the operation and presentation of a professional office; assist with other tasks as assigned.
  • Participate in safety and emergency response plan maintenance, development and training activities.
  • Keep supervisor well informed of activities, results of efforts, and problems/potential problems identified; recommend corrective action to supervisor.
  • Respect confidentiality in discussing visitors, clients, tenants, staff and organizational matters.

 
Qualifications:

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (G.E.D.) and two years of relevant experience; or combination of experience and education.

Computer Skills:

  • Knowledge of personal computers and peripherals, word processing and spreadsheet software, e-mail and the Internet.  Experience with security cameras such as Pelco products or related.  Knowledge of security software such as Symetry Access control systems.

  • Typical Working Conditions:
  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is exposed to both indoor and outdoor conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Shipping and receiving duties may also be required.

Physical Demands:

  • Sit for long periods of time.
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally to move objects.
  • View computer screen for long periods of time.
